Security
It goes without saying that the children's security is of utmost importance. We have a strict policy regarding entry to the Nursery and the collection of children. People collecting children who are not the usual parents/carers are only allowed entry if prior notification from the parents/carers has been received. The office is located in close proximity to the main entrance to ensure management are aware of who is entering and leaving the nursery at all times. Visitors to the nursery are asked to present identification prior to entering and will remain accompanied at all times and asked to sign the nursery visitor's book.
All of our employees are CRB checked and they are required to attend formal child protection training as part of their mandatory induction program and regular refresher courses. This training is further supported by a fully trained Child Protection Coordinator.
Health and Safety is a priority to ensure that the nursery is safe and secure to all children, families, staff and visitors at all times. We carry out regular checks on the premises and equipment and staff receive regular training on health and safety and paediatric first aid.
Benefits of Nursery Education
- Nurseries provide continuity and stability for your child. Nurseries don't become ill, go on holiday or hand in their notice.
- The nursery environment complements, rather than replaces your role as a parent.
- Interacting with a group in the early years helps with the development of language skills and develops children's social skills. They learn to be aware of each other's needs, to share and to make friends.
- Studies show that there are long term benefits to nursery education. Children do better in terms of social development and educational achievement, and in the acquisition of reading, writing and numerical skills.
- The staff to child ratio in Day Nurseries (1 to 8 aged 3-5) is higher than that in Nursery Schools (normally 2 to 26 children).
